I also took advantage of that deal at L.A. Wine Company that also had Bin 27 at $5.00 bottle (375s). Recently I also picked up some 1997 Rozes ($25.00/bottle), 1980 Fonseca ($45.00/bottle) as well as a number of '63s & '66s for which I don't have the pricing in front of me at the moment.

Okay, so I succumbed and spent a few of my dollars that I've been holding so tightly to. For weeks there has been a bottle of 2004 Quinta de Roriz starting at me from the shelf at Whole Foods. It was the only bottle left. For weeks I kept looking to see if anyone bought it, and no one did. After this much time I figured that it was meant for me, so I brought it home. I guess it wasn't a great deal ($47), but judging from some of the tasting notes I've read, it should be a tasty Port.

wine-searcher shows one listing in NJ at $35, and then the next best price in the US is $48, so that's not bad at all. This should be a fun bottle, and I look forward to a report. Then you can add to the best off-year debate. [cheers.gif]

A case of the Fonseca Bin 27 375ml bottles at $7.25 each (with shipping) and
Two bottles of Quinta da Romaneira 2004 VP for $20 each (Special Sale--wish I could get more at that price--a VP for the price of an LBV or expensive ruby is aces in my book) :D
Any Port in a storm!

A case of 1970 Taylor, split with Glenn E. and Bryan H. Does it count as my first case purchase? I guess not.

I saw that VVV listing David. Nice catch.

No. This was a listing at Christie's which unfortunately doesn't provide those details. Correspondingly, we put in a low-ball bid, and were surprised to have won. I must give Bonhams & Butterfields credit in this area. Their listings for Port are much more complete, with bottling years for Colheita and bottlers for pre-1975 VP.

Sometimes yes.... sometimes no. I have mixed results with Bonham's - such as the case of 2003 Niepoort where 8 out of 12 bottles had leaked - and was not noted. And sometimes a confusion between Vintage Port and Colheita Port... or even Garrafeira Port. But generally, if I contact them they will get me the info I request.

LOL, how could I have forgotten to list Oscar's wine and Ports. I got at least a 6-pack of everything and a 12'er of the LBV [dance2.gif]

(I would have bought more, but I am planning to get some 1985 Graham's VPs that will put a serious dent in the Port budget!)
