1955 Smith Woodhouse Vintage Port

Post by Steve Saxon »

This was the best port I've ever had. I was amazed by the dark color and great floral aromas while decanting. The tannins were still firm but soften in the decanter and the fruit was fantastic with rich plum, raisins and black cherry. The finish seemed to last forever. 98 points

I just love the 1955's!
The first 55 I ever tasted was the Taylor tried last year. Where did you come by the SW?
I do like seeing notes on wines from this vintage.

Richard, This wine was brought to the tasting from my friend David. I think he bought it on Wine Commune some years ago for under $100.

WHat a deal that was! The Taylor 55 was $350 last year and it has skyrocketed around $500+ since.
