I have a good friend that wants to purchase her husband a 66 (birthyear) vintage port for his birthday. They will be celebrating in Seattle May 3rd and could use a restaurant recommendation also. They will be staying downtown...I think at the Westin.
Fonseca?
She also could use an idea of someplace to purchase the port!
Thanks for your help!

Before our founder and Seattle resident, Roy Hersh, can reply, and I leave it to him on the restaurant in Seattle, I suggest Dow, Graham, Taylor, Fonseca, Warre, Noval, almost any 66. Almost every house declared and it was a great year for port. Winesearcher.com is the place to begin finding it.

There are two restaurants I would suggest. Both have a $25 corkage fee and will allow bottles to be brought in:
Union: A Restaurant - have them mention that they know me ... and it may get them off the hook with corkage fee. Monday there is none if they are around on that day.
1400 1st Ave, Seattle, 98101 - (206) 838-8000
My foodie favorite restaurant is: MISTRAL
113 Blanchard St, Seattle, 98121 - (206) 770-7799
Sandeman, Fonseca, Dow, Taylor Graham's would be my suggestions for '66s

Ambition driven by passion, rather than money, is as strong an elixir as is Port. http://www.fortheloveofport.com

Once again, http://www.winesearcher.com , is the best place to begin. If you go to the Robert Parker website ( if you subscribe) and enter "port 1966", you will see ratings of 1966 ports. There is a place to click on each house , " find it online" that gives more retail sites.
You can also go to our Port and Madeira Marketplace Forum on this website to see if a member might sell a bottle.
