
For some bizarre reason, a few cases of this wine were shipped to a temperature controlled store in Japan and then years later shipped back to Christies in London to be sold.
Not surprisingly, the trade were less than enthused about buying port with Japanese import labels, so a shot-to-nothing bid on a ten bottle lot came up trumps.
The cost of shipping the wine to London probably cost more than I paid...
Anyway, I decanted a bottle yesterday afternoon, and after a quick sip left the decanter until this lunchtime.
Colour is a little pale, but otherwise typical of its age
Bit of an oddity, this one, in that it manages to combine the normally contradictory attributes of being both light and jammy.
It's Taylor parentage is not that obvious either, but it is a very smooth and drinkable beast!
