2004 Casal dos Jordões Vintage Port

Post by Gustavo Devesas »

Hi there everybody!
Last week I had here the visit of the owner of Casal dos Jordões, one of the most special Port producers in my opinion.
Why?
1st - it's a very special one, it's the only Organic Port Producer that exist, I mean ALL the Ports that he makes are made from organicly grown grapes.
2nd - It's the producer/owner of Port Wine enterprise that speaks and shows more passion I ever seen. When we went to visit his quinta all he was ever speaking was about each leaf, about each grape, detail after detail.
He has even driven by very straight ways almost with his eyes closed and most of the time - backwards!!! :? :? :?

So he came here to show us what will be (or not!) his VP 2004.
Next I leave my TN for this wine:

Casal dos Jordões VP? 2004(CASK SAMPLE)

Visual details: Realy deep and dark colour almost like oil, with interesting cherry colour where the wine marriages the glass.Powerful!

Nose details:Good first impact, all the berry and cherry claiming to be drinked, intense smell of specific flower called "esteva" in portuguese.

Mouth details:Good and correct structure. It starts in a very very very good and balanced way in the mouth full of strawberry and rasp berry flavours, middle taste with good persistance but with very smooth finish that finishes after 3 / 4 mins.

Score: 86 points!

Just to finish, by the way, we've established a special partnership with CJ - Casal dos Jordões , to be the ONLY place in the whole world to have the Casal dos Jordões White Half-Dry Organic Port with an annual production of 2000 bottles!!!They are all behind me!!!
Eeheheh, a White organic Port!??!?!?
Want to taste it?

Gustavo,

I think you are the first person to post a tasting note from the 2004 vintage. Congratulations! :)
