TN: 1995 Bredell's Vintage Port

Post by Al B. »

Decant: None - South Africa. Cape Vintage Reserve 1995, made from 70% Tinta Barocca and 30% Sousao. Bottled in October 1997. Deep red in colour with some bricking on the rim. A surprising nose, dominated by ripe Galia melons. Very soft in the mouth showing a huge fruit presence of ripe and elegant brambles. The tannins are soft and support a wonderful complex mid-palate. The aftertaste is very long, changing slowly through it's life and dominated by a secondary sweet, burnt caramel. Not on the market any more, this was opened to illustrate what a mature Bredell port can deliver - port to be opened and shared with friends. 92 points
