4 bottle box set of 375ml Kopke tawny
Today I came across a 4 bottle box set of 375ml Kopke tawny; 10, 20, 30, and 40 year. This sounded like a fun tasting exercise, but the price was $199 which I though was a bit steep for a tawny. Is this a reasonable price for these 4 bottles?
Thanks, John C

Kopke is a fine Tawny Port Producer
Hi John -
please note that Old Tawnies are very fine wines too.
You have come across the 100 Years Port package :)
please check this thread: click here.
I've noticed that in the USA a 750 ml 20yr Tawny costs about $50 usd and for a 750ml 40yr Tawny prices range (depending on the brand) from $100 to $150.
As for the package you've seen and also considering that it has 375ml bottles (not 750ml), unfortunately I'm not aware on what the reasonable retail price would be.
Kopke is considered one of the finest Tawny Port producers. Maybe this could help
best. /Mario.

John,
A quick check on wine-searcher (non-pro version) showed the 20 yr @ $29.00 and the 30yr @ $35.00. The bottles appear to be 750ml. If that is the case, that is way too much $$$$ for those bottles of 375's.

John,
The importer of Kopke (for most of the USA) is located here on the Eastside (of Seattle). The price you quote may not be the cheapest in the USA, but it won't be far off from it. If you really want to explore their 100 year set, go for it. Like Mario, I find their wood-aged Ports and also very recent vintages of Vintage Port to be world class. I would not seek out pre-1994 Vintage Ports, but their Colheitas are exceptional. If you want to find two of their greatest, you should seek out the 1952 and 1957. The 1963 is also fantastic and the 1966 which is available in the shop I told you about in Redmond, has it.
