Roy,

Another wonderful newsletter, I really liked the list of prodcuers and their website address. I'm working my way through them just to look at the cool pictures of the quintas, OK OK, and to read up on the lesser known houses

Thanks for the newsletter -- full of great information. I had been a little disappointed to have to postpone my trip to Portugal, originally scheduled for last month. Since I found your site I'm actually glad we postponed. I expect the information in your newsletter and on the site will make it a much richer visit when we go.

I am still waiting for those TN's on your trip to Madeira, and the pictures of Faja dos Padres and your back-breaking crawls through the vines

As for the TN's, you can never have enough. it is especially fun to read about those ports not often, or never, seen here in the US. Other than you and a few others on this site, I would probably never get to know how they stand up.

But Roy, I do have to ask if there have been any truly funny, wacky, and strange things that have happened on the trips thus far. OK, so long as no one involved gets offended :twisted:

Sure Andy. No names and the individual does not read here anyway.

One of the folks on the trip wound up missing half the events. I don't know why although the person blamed it on not getting accustomed to the time change from the US W. Coast. I found it odd that the person travels internationally 2-5 times a year!

Funnier yet. We were drinking a 1952 Dalva White Colheita Port for the 2nd time together on this trip and the person says, "you know, I really don't like all of these Colheitas, 20-40 year old Tawny Ports and LBVs and if I knew that the trip was not solely about Vintage Ports, I would not have come."

I was stunned and actually could not think of anything appropriate to say. I just turned back to my glass and faded away into my pleasure zone.

I haven't read the newsletter yet. I try really hard to pace myself. I'm one of the sad people who print out the newsletter and read off a hard copy - but I try to spread out my reading over 3-4 weeks in the hope that by the time I finish the next issue is out.

And what's wrong with wanting to go on a Vintage Port only trip? A bit of a niche market, but there's clearly a demand.

None of this Single Quinta stuff....and only vintage wines from the 1931 vintage on your next trip please.

Drinking a handful of old non-VPs from the 1970s, 1960s, a bunch from the 1950s going back to Colheita from 1882 is really a bummer. I must rethink our trips and find a way to do a VP only tour.

In all seriousness, if there is enough interest and sign-ups, we could certainly accomodate a trip to Noval and try some Nacionals in the 3 day FTLOP only trip mentioned in the PORT FORUM.
