I am seriously considering a tour during the month of February. In addition to selecting some very special visits for our first ever winter trip ... we would also be taking part in the filming of a FTLOP documentary film, by Zev Robinson. Not sure yet if this will be 5 days or a full week.
Prices will be discounted for those that would like to join us for this unique opportunity. Considering how quickly and how far in advance both of the 2010 tours sold out (and the folks already lined up for the other two 2011 tours), it is a guarantee that this first time for lowering the pricing of our tour ... will be the only time. Email me if you are interested.
Roy - pardon an ignorant question, but this will be specifically a mainland tour?
The reason I ask is that I'm finding that I am drinking Madeira to the exclusion of other wines. (Which is a shame because I have some cabs I really need to work through.)
I haven't been so enchanted by Port, though perhaps that will change when I have friends over to open the Ferreira's 20-yo tawny.
What tour would be have the most focus on Madeira, and how do I join the line-up?
The tour you are looking for is in May and is called the Fortification Tour. For Madeira "freaks" like us, this is something incredible and you can read about it later this week in the upcoming newsletter. But details on the 2011 version are on the homepage - then click on the TRAVEL PAGE at the top. If you want to reserve spots for this trip, you'll need to email me directly: roy@fortheloveofport.com and please include your full name and phone number.
I too am a Madeira "freak" and attended the Fortification Tour this past May. The Madeira portion of the trip was incredible, exceeding all expectations, and the Porto and Duoro Valley visits were great, even for a Port novice like me. I HIGHLY recommend it.
