1927 Domaine Bory Rivesaltes ?

Post by Eric Menchen »

My sticky friends, I just got an e-mail offering this French fortified white, $90, JJ Buckley. Anyone familiar with it?

I don't know the Domaine itself but have had a bunch of Rivesaltes over the years. I've never been wowed by a single one although a nice dessert wine, nothing profound about them. I don't know that they can really age this way and worry about how they'd taste at over 80 years of age. I know for sure I'd never pay to find out, but you might wind up being surprised. At under $100 if you feel like taking a risk, go for it. But otherwise I'd think you could do far more good with the money, so I'd suggest taking a pass.
