You're added! I'm planning a more complete 1985 horizontal for later... probably 2015 for the 30th anniversary... so we should compare our selections. I have 22 different bottles from 1985 and know of a few more that I'd like to have for the tasting.

What does everyone think about a theme of "Best of the 1980s"? That would give us a little broader choice, and it would let Glenn save more of his 85s for the tasting in 2015. Just a thought.

Melanie - I think "Best of the 80s" would be great! I might even have a CD with that name we could use as a soundtrack!

Sean - no list yet, as the theme isn't 100% settled. I guess that gives you first option if you're ready to pick!

The "spares" from 1985 that I have that people are welcome to adopt if they want to are Gould Campbell, Smith Woodhouse, Fonseca, Taylor, Graham, Croft, Churchill, and Burmester. Some were more expensive than others. (I have 14 additional singles for the big horizontal in 2015. )

Save the Delaforce and Rebello Valente for the 30-year horizontal, I don't have either of those. The big one I'm missing is Sandeman, but I know of a couple of sources so it's just a matter of picking it up.

I've talked with more people, so let's make Melanie's theme official - this will be a "Best of the 80s" tasting!

In order to preserve the ability to do the tasting blind, should we choose that option, don't post the bottle you intend to bring here. Instead PM me and I'll make sure that there aren't any duplicates. And if you need to adopt let me know - I have more options with the wider theme, and I'm sure that Roy has options as well.

Good to have Sean joining us. Sounds like a fun tasting. After others select bottles to ante up, let me know what is coming and I'll fill in any holes.

I realize that it's December and the holidays, etc, but I haven't received very many PMs with people's bottle choices. (You can also email me if you prefer.)

Please choose a bottle soon so that if there are duplicates we have time to work out alternatives. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone next month!

what time are the festivities expected to begin?

We generally start at 6:00 pm with the intent being that you'll have already eaten dinner. The Holiday Inn technically closes its meeting rooms at midnight, though they've never kicked us out before, so we like to allow for a full 6-hour tasting.

I haven't made the reservation with them yet, though, so if there are any requests for a different start time now'd be the time to get them in!
