The Next Seattle Port Tasting - April 16th 2011

Post by Roy Hersh »

I've given a lot of thought as to what would make for the next compelling tasting here in the Seattle/Sammamish area. It was an easy decision:

A thorough look at the 20 year old 1991 vintage. When a vintage turns 20, most consider it ready to start drinking and I typically find this is a good place in which to start seriously evaluating where the VP is heading. Given how youthful these are and still available in the marketplace it will make for a great horizontal format.

I have a bunch of 1991 Vintage Ports in my collection that I'd be willing to toss into the mix. I'll have to check my cellar at some point this week and list which I'll ante up. For now, let's try to get another fine group of 14-16 ppl to join in the fun.

The date chosen is April 16th, relief right after "tax day" and that Saturday we'll do all of the bottles unless there is 20 or more bottles in which case we may make this a two-day event, where we'd finish the 2nd batch on Sunday.

I'll keep the guest list right here in the first post in this thread:

1. Glenn E.
2. Sandy B.
3. Ruth B.
4. Stewart T.
5. Bill Schallert
6. Eric M. (tentative) w/ Mrs. M. ??
8. Eric. I
9. Lisa S.
10. Vic
11. Alan S. - non-FTLOP but soon to be joining our midst
12. Melanie R.
13. Kris H. (tentatively)
14. Roy Hersh

Ruth and I are in (and if we make it a 2-day event we'll be celebrating her birthday - Apr 17).

Would love to join you guys but will be in the middle of tax season!

Helpful tax tip of the day, 1040's this year are due on April 18th due to Emancipation Day in D.C. falling on April 15th. Best not to wait till the morning of April 17th to finish your return though. :drunk: [kez_11.gif]

I'm trying to figure out my schedule to see if I can make it. And I've got some 1991 candidates.

I probably won't be able to make this due to some prior plans that month and the following month :(

Ya know, we could probably arrange for an 1100-mile police pursuit that would originate somewhere in the Los Angeles area and head north if that would help...

Considering I'm a temporary desk jockey at the moment, that wouldn't work. This summer, that's a different story.....

The list has been updated and for the moment we have 3 spots left available. Sean and Christine might join us again too, should hear back in 24 hours.
