Nightmare Scenario!

Post by Derek T. »

BBC News reported this morning that the EU has sanctioned the building of a number of nuclear power stations across the continent in an attempt to re-vitalise the economy in some of the areas that have been hit by the economic downturn in recent years. One of these is to be built in the upper Douro, close to the Vargellas/Vesuvio area!

I can't find any information online but will report back if I find anything.

I've just found out through a industry contact that it will be located on or near the new dam construction that is going to take place on the Tua river, near Quinta dos Malvedos. So a little more west than Vesuvio/Vargellas thankfully.

Wow, now soon I'll be able to get port to illuminate along with my vaseline glass decanter. [shok.gif]

Not against Nukes, although after Japan's issues, not for 'em either ... especially not in the Douro!
