Interesting information, but I think I would rather live in the bliss of not really knowing how many calories are my favorite drink

So what you are saying, Roy, is that if I cut out all my other food then my daily recommended calorific intake of 2,700 calories can be gained from drinking 1.75 bottles of vintage port per day!

May I point out that this site is named For The Love of Port - not Things About Port To Make You Feel bad About Drinking It.

I suggest you should do the honourable thing and make this the first (or is it second?) thread to be be removed from the site

Roy,

Have you been working your way through a magnum of VP over the last 24 hours? Your posts are becoming more cryptic by the hour!

My suggestion to delete the thread was obviously a joke - however, now that you have acted upon it all that is left is the punch-line which means the original joke is lost.

Perhaps in 500 years time some cyberspace archeologist will discover this forum on a decaying old back-up tape and start to analyse these threads to find out what people were like in the early 21st century. If he reads the posing from the past couple of days he may well conclude that we were all permanently drunk on something known as VP which had gradually reduced our capacity for coherent communication - he would be right! Anyway, I'm willing to bet that if he also found a bottle of Fonseca 85 at the same time it would still be drinkable, if just a bit too young

Perhaps you or Stuart could put a bottle of Foncseca 85, an FTLOP web server back-up tape, Mayson's Port and the Douro and a corkscrew in a time capsule and bury it in your garden.

I can assure you that it was not VP that was responsible. The bottle I was going to bring on Sunday to one of my tasting groups (1997 Crasto VP ... the first from a just opened case I've had since release) was badly corked. It must have been many bottles of meager Pinot Noir we were tasting.

Last night I was hosting another PN tasting for my other group. I opened a '95 Eira Velha VP and it was great, but with 8 thirsty lads present, it was not something that I was able to have more than 3 ounces of. There must be some other explanation for the odd behavior.

It may have something to do with tonight's selection of the next American Idol.
