TN: Blandy's 5 Year Old Malmsey

Post by Marco D. »

Need to post some notes on more inexpensive Madeiras... Having been pleasantly surprised by the Blandy's 5 year old Bual, I decided to give the Malmsey a try. Not that much sweeter than the Bual, but this was quite a bit heavier in taste. More torrefaction, with darker flavors of chocolate, toffee, raisins and treacle. A good wine for the price, but my tastes runs a bit more towards the lighter Bual, which I think carries a bit more lift and energy.

Marco,
Thanks for the TN on these. We don't get enough TN's on these entry level Madeira's, so these are much appreciated.
