What to nibble with 48 Reserva Velha Barbeito
Apologies - Just opened a '48 Reserva Velha Barbeito preparing for Saturday's New Year's Eve two couple celebration. So what nibbles or simple foods might you suggest we match with it? Thanks in advance.

Hard cheese, like cheddar or parmesan should work. That's a very nice wine that would stand well on its own. I assume that you have the malvasia.

I would not combine this with any food, but if you must:
In addition to cheese, Marcona almonds, dried apricots, slices of granny smith apples or pears, Bolo de Mel cake (honey cake), date 'n nut bread for sheer nibbling. If you want to pair it with a meal, let us know and we can certainly make some entree suggestions too.

Thanks. Baklava was wonderful, and Bleu and Asiago cheeses as well as a liver/mushroom pate all worked very well with toasted baguette slices.
