2004 Casal dos Jordões Vintage Port

Post by Gustavo Devesas »

Hi there!
Here's my first TN of my first VP 2004 already available in my place.
It's from the only Organic Port Producer in the Douro (this means that all the Ports that he's producing it's made from organicly grown grapes)

Here is my description of the wine:

Commercial Overview:

Label:As most of all the labels from CJ this label is very dark style, mostly black and gold colour but with a lot of information and text in the front label,in my opinion, it misses some classe and some modern spirit for not only this, but all the labels from CJ.
It has a mini sticker saying "bio" and at the bottom of the frontlabel it says "wine made from organic grapes". I would rate it 12 out of 20.
Production:5500 bottles
Price: 29 €

Wine Review:

Very deep red colour, much darker that the VP 2000 when I opened them at 2002 but not as much as most of the VP2003 that I tasted last year.
It's very rich in first impact flavours, the berries are there, there's a big smell/nose of rockrose all over the glasse and the wine has a very good balance wine+fruitness vs. brandy spirit. It has some tanins, not has much has the VP 2000 from CJ .I would keep it for not more then 10y,and I think it's ready to drink (as the good American style!) before 2010.
I rate it 15.5/20.

I hope you've enjoied my review, tomorrow I have a special tasting note of a VP 2000 Vau Sandeman vs. São Pedro das águias VP 2000 eheheh!
:D
