RWC Porto Moniz Verdelho Special Reserve
I had a glass of this last month and was impressed while down in ATL. This is my first full bottle and I opened it to drink prior to my departure to Portugal on Thursday morning. Need to prepare my liver for the onslaught. This is very tasty and beautifully balanced Verdelho. I want to see how it fleshes out over the next two nights.

So where would you put it score wise on day 1?Roy Hersh wrote:I had a glass of this last month and was impressed while down in ATL. 89-91 in the early goings, but this will get some air time and be a better wine for sure. Nice flavors.

Thanks, it's educational to see how they change and how scores change as well.Roy Hersh wrote:89-91 in the early goings, but this will get some air time and be a better wine for sure. Nice flavors.

That should sell well in MA, if 2% of everyone named Moniz bought a bottle, they'd sell out in one weekend.

Roy:
Tried for 6 months to get this wine-after your review had to try it(got it 1 week ago).
TN:
Nose: medium but very nice
Body: medium
Taste: very pleasant
Aftertaste: nice
16-17/20
P.S. Good acid but not like the Tanzer's guy said-I liked it but Roy's rating was fair.

With this wine disapointing I opened another:
TN: Barbeito Verdelho 1926
Nose: mild
Body: full
Taste: aged light tar
Aftertaste: very full
18/20
P.S. one of my favorite V's.

Funny thing is due to my traveling to Portugal, I just had a few glasses of this and have half the bottle left. I need to go back and try this, as it is the LONGEST any bottle of Madeira has ever sat open in my home. An amazing feat. Glad I forgot about this one.
