Yes all bullying issues, from stuff such as this, to LGBT, to disabled, etc need to be stopped. But where do kids learn such behavior? I dare say mainly from their parents. Little snide comments adults make about others are heard by kids and that influences what they believe and influences their behavior toward others as well. So it's our responsibility to let kids know to love others, even ones that are not like us.

I wholeheartedly agree that it starts with the parents, but the influences extend so much farther than that. Parents alone can't always do it, or often are not capable of doing it, especially in the context of the contemporary family and culture. Experts of all backgrounds seem to be coming together on that point, though without visible results. For an example, just turn on a radio or TV, or go to the movies: horrific stuff coming from corporate media, and from a Hollywood that strangely loves to pat itself on the back for its "liberal" values.
