I recently picked up a few of these but haven't yet tried one. Guess I should sometime soon.

Marc,
Which Crasto, the regular Douro, Reserva, or something else?

Andy,

It was the regular Douro bottling. One of these days I'd like to do a side-by-side comparison of the Douro and Reserva bottlings. I'm thinking that would be a fun little experiment...

Hey Chris, up the ante on the 2009 Reserva, which is arguably equal to the greatness of the 2004.

There is no 2009 Ponte, just 2009 Maria Teresa

We were @ Crasto the other night and although I've opened several of my own bottles of the Crasto Reserva 2009 it was was great to try it again at the source. Andy's right, no VdP, but there is 2009 MT. Also great Touriga Nacional and Tinta Roriz both bottled separately and they're killer. We had a slew of their wines, but anything 2009 from Crasto is killer.

Chris, we also visited Sandra at Pintas and went to Passadouro too, so we got to try Guru and Pintas and Passadouro and more. Their wines are just getting better and better.

Thanks Roy really most appreciated.
I love the wines from Wine and Soul and have already bought some. The Guru 2010 is a wonderful White!
I have just started trying some of the early wines I purchased after the great trip we had with you in 06. They are FANTASTIC!!! drinking a lot of Batuta 05 at present and all my friends who are not aware of Douro wines are blown away. It is so good I have a policy in place of replacing every bottle I drink! [cheers.gif]

Outstanding. I have a lineup waiting for me of samples to try, including things like the latest and greatest Meao Meandro and plenty of others. Now to find the time!

Chris, it has been way too long. I hope you are doing well. It would be great to see you again one of these days.

Been in Denmark buying a big load of nice Douro reds, either because we cannot get them in Norway or because they are cheaper in Denmark.

8 x 2009 QD Crasto Touriga Nacional
12 x 2009 Qd Crasto Reserva
9 x 2009 Qd Crasto Superior (3 mag+6 regular)
6 x 2007 Vinha Grande (Sogrape)
6 x 2009 Wine & Soul Pintas
6 x 2009 Wine & Soul Pintas Character
6 x 2009 Wine & Soul Qd Manoella vinhas velhas
3 x 2009 Van Zeller Casal Lovois
3 x 2009 Poeira

That will do for a while!

Good score, Rune. However, you really should round out the field by purchasing some 2009 Qta do Crasto Tinta Roriz, too. :scholar:

Hi Roy!
Have already tried it and posted a tasting note last winter. Ended up writing in the tasting note "Purchased only one bottle for tasting, and will stay with that. There are so many other Crasto Douro reds that are giving better value-for-money. 91 pts."
That clearly show how much nice 2009-Douro red that have been produced at Crasto in that vintage.

No question about that my friend. What was your score on the Superior? I ask because I noted you purchased a six pack PLUS mags. [cheers.gif]

I gave it 88 pts, which is relatively high for wine of that price level.
I have not been too keen on the previous vintages of Crasto Superior, but the 2009 vintage is a big step in the right direction.
