TN: Henriques & Henriques 15 Year Old Verdelho Madeira

Post by Andy Velebil »

A pale golden brown cola color. Dried rose pedals, cloves, and VA on the nose. Far drier and with plenty more VA than the 5 year Full Rich that preceded this bottle. I liked the balance this has across the full palate and finish. Straight forward dried nuts and VA on the palate. This could use a bit more complexity to spruce it up for more serious Madeira drinkers, but otherwise is a good introduction.

I like this a lot, but have noticed some bottle variation. The 15-year sercial is also very good.

I would recommend trying the 20-year terrantez. RWC has it for $70, which is what many vendors charge for the 15-year wines. Wonderful stuff!

Thanks for the rec.

I should mention, I have no idea when this was bottled. As these (the H&H Full Rich we also had) were acquired by the retailer at the same time, and that was at least a couple years ago or more (my friend didn't know exactly when they got them, but it was prior to him working there). So I assume it was bottle at least 3-4(+) years ago.

Just an update on the left overs a few days later. Sharp orange zest has shown and given a little more complexity to it. I prefer it a touch more now than when it was popped-and-poured a few days ago. 88 points
