1988 Taylor Vargellas
Very nice when opened and 24 hours later still good, never hot. Good baked black berry pie nose, some very ripe plum also near a prune taste but not pruny. Nice nutmeg cinnamon spice. Nice big entry and mouth feel but a little thin after a few seconds but very pleasant middle and finish. Better than NV but not a block buster. 88 points.

HI Richard,
I can't recall ever having this vintage of Vargellas. Do you think it will benefit from more cellar time or is it in a good spot right now?

My personal guess is that it is not going to get any better. Not much tannin, seems very mature if not passing its prime. The only reason to age this is if 1988 is a special birth, anniversary year. It just dawned on me that it is an 88 and I gave it 88 points
