Hi everyone,
I am currently doing some research on fortified wines. Unfortunately, I can't find any statistics or other figures on US domestic fortified wine production. Is anyone aware of any statistics on US (fortified) wine production that is available online?
Regards,
Roel.

Only covers California, but you might try the California Wine Institute. Those figures should cover the majority of wines from the US.

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately, there are no seperate figures on fortified wines in their statistics..Eric Ifune wrote:Only covers California, but you might try the California Wine Institute. Those figures should cover the majority of wines from the US.

Re: Statistics on US fortified production?
Most of the dessert wines I see made in the U.S. are the late-harvest type, along with some ice wines and a few botrytis products. Even some of the bottles labeled "Port", besides not being from the Douro, aren't fortified. Just my observation, backed up by no real data. Good luck finding that. Maybe the Sweet and Fortified Wine Association has some numbers? I'd try contacting them:

That's a starting point.June, 2007 ...
Recent U.S. wine sales indicate that dessert wines now account for 7.5 percent of all U.S. wine shipments. Growth in dessert wine sales has increased 61 percent in the last five years.
