Hello!
Which are the best vintages of 2007 and 2009? I want to buy several bottles since these are the years of my marriage and of the birth of my daughter.

I'm sure you'll get many different opinions
but for me the taylor 2009 is a stand out
and if you want to follow ratings the dow 2007 got the 100pts

Of the 07s, i was most struck by Noval and Sandeman, though there are plenty to choose from.
I'd say Taylor, Vesuvio, Warre, Niepoort and Niepoort Bioma are definitely worth a look in terms of 09s.
Skeffington 09 also seems like great value to me and halves are going down rather too nicely now...!
One thing worth bearing in mind if you are looking to acquire a wide range: I wouldn't be suprised to see the price of these ports fairly flat over the next 10 years (like the low prices for 94s, 97s and 00s nowadays) - that is, apart from those that were part of very small bottling runs (eg: Capela / Bioma) or unusual formats (eg: double mags/ imperials / 5litres). So that's where you might want to target current spending, adding the more commonly available stuff over the coming years.

Prices of Dow 07 are tumbling over here after the initial excitement of the 100 pt rating - last month i saw a case listed on BBR at release price. Personally i think there are better ports to buy for drinking, and better things to speculate on if you want to make a turn.Jeff G. wrote:and if you want to follow ratings the dow 2007 got the 100pts

If you do a brief search either on this website or google, you will find my review of nearly 70 producers of 2007 VP's and quite a few 2009's too.

Warre is one of my favorite 2007's tasted on the Harvest Tour. Noval is a stand out too. I don't think you'll find a "stinker" for 2007, so go for your favorite brands. Have no clue on 2009.

Some really stellar 2007s that might surprise you were Vale Meao (98), Porto Rocha (97), and Duorum (97). Those were the top 3 of the 24 or so that I tasted, though notably I didn't get the chance to taste the Noval. I didn't think that any of the big names were as good as those 3.Joao Franco wrote:Which are the best vintages of 2007 and 2009?
