20 Year Old Tawny Port by Barros

Post by John Conwell »

Opened this 10 days ago, and I wasn't very impressed. It seemed to have a jumble of muted flavors that I couldn't pull apart, except for strong notes of walnuts.

I put the bottle down, and didn't come back to it until tonight. What a turn around. Very fruit forward, with hints of coffee, toffee, and walnuts (much less than is did when it was first opened).

The color is a dark rusty orange, like a light maple syrup.

This was a very pleasant tawny, one of the best I've ever had
Thanks, John C

I have only had this Tawny a few times, but I've been very impressed each time -- and I'm normally not a fan of 20's as they are often too woody for my taste.

Glad it turned around.
Porto comes from only one place . . . no matter what the label says!
