I use Wine Searcher mainly to establish price. I live in an area with lots of great B&M opportunities or if bidding at auction, then I would know the retail price.

Hey, it wouldn't let me vote for BOTH of the last two options. I think wine-searcher is great, but I am not currently a subscriber. I let the subscription lapse the last time it came up for renewal because I am not actively buying right now. When my cellar is done and I'm figuring out what to stock it with, I will probably subscribe again.

I think wine searcher is a great tool and the pro version well worth the modest subscription if you are even a modest buyer of port.

But despite my recommendation, I don't subscribe or use wine searcher for my purchases as I am buying very little these days.

'Tis true! We are nearly at the end of February and so far I have only bought 12 bottles of port, including 3 bottles of Vargellas 1998 that were a ridiculous price (£15) in Tesco and I couldn't resist. In 6-7 years time these will make really nice, mature cellar defenders.

And before you ask, I've opened 14 bottles so far this year, so I am succeeding in my aim of reducing my overall stocks of port.

I plan to buy 4-6 half-cases of 2011 port (assuming the IVDP approved the samples). At least one of these will be Vesuvio but I haven't yet decided what the others will be.

What 2011's have you tasted so far that have wowed you Al B.?

Nice to see we've had some critical mass of votes so far in order to see how this would play out. Hopefully, others will still weigh in. [bye2.gif]
