Movie question

Post by Roy Hersh »

Has anybody seen the baseball movie: "42" about the career of Jackie Robinson? If so, what did you think?

I saw it with my wife & kids. On a 1-10 scale, they gave it an 8, I gave it a 7. An important story and well done, but to me seemed a bit like a TV Movie of the Week with better actors and script. I know they took some license with events, but you'd have to to get it all in there.

Agreed. Solid but not great. Saw it on Mother's Day. Great message for my daughter who never has had to deal with racism or experience any prejudice before seeing this movie. She understood it and the nuances. But it could have been quite a bit better. Acting and the dialogue were fine, it was the screenplay that was flawed.
