2x Barros 1997 Colheita, 375ml, recent bottling
Taylor First Estate Reserve
Dow 2007 LBV
A local b&m is going out of business and had everything 30% off or more. The above were bargains and probably hadn't been on the shelf too long. They have a fancy cabinet with VP and other high end bottles, but given the poor storage and big markup, those weren't deals.

Where did you find halves? I have only been able to find 75cl bottles...had been on the look-out for halves after the success with the 2009.Al B. wrote: This means that Skeffington varies considerably in style from vintage to vintage and is unusual in that it is not tied to any particular set of vineyards. TFP often use this house to supply the buyer's own label market (Tanner's 2011 vintage port is Skeffington, for example) and it can represent a real bargain in vintage port terms - I paid £11.50 for a half bottle of the 2011 vintage.

Alex,
Thank you for the Skeffington explanation. I bet a vertical would certainly be a unique tasting!

It would be great fun, but next to impossible to organise since the production tends to get drunk pretty quickly! Might be an idea for a future offline though...Roy Hersh wrote:Alex,

Tanners for sure, and I'm guessing The Port Society can probably also get the Skeffington in halves.Rob C. wrote:Al B. wrote: Where did you find halves? I have only been able to find 75cl bottles...had been on the look-out for halves after the success with the 2009.

NV Casa de Santa Eufemia Special Reserve White Port
This is the 1973 White Colheita that can't be bottled as such because it wasn't declared properly, and this bottle might be the best example of it that I've tasted so far. Very yummy just slightly chilled!

1992 Tuke Holdsworth LBV (Never seen one in the US--had to try it)
1998 Quinta do Crasto LBV (Have some 2004-2006, rounding out a vertical)
1999 Quinta do Crasto VP
With premium at auction $85--I thought that was pretty good for a VP plus two semi-obscure LBVs.

Re: What Port(s) have you purchased this week?
After saying that I'm "too old" to purchase new Vintage Port releases, I broke down and purchased some 2011 Vintage Ports.
12 x 2011 Taylor Vintage Port
12 x 2011 Fonseca Vintage Port
6 x 2011 Graham's Vintage Port
I'll probably go back for a bit more Graham's and a few others.

You're not too old - drink them in the next 5 years and have a big smile on your face. Sod the next generation; they don't have the patience to wait 50 years anyway (at least mine don't!).David Spriggs wrote:After saying that I'm "too old" to purchase new Vintage Port releases, I broke down and purchased some 2011 Vintage Ports.![]()

Super excited to have gotten a Port from my birthyear, 1973 Martinez VP. Many thanks to Tom for helping in this.

I do own some of that. But I've never had a red Port, or even seen a VP for that matter, from this rare vintage. The only one I've ever actually seen is Noval's 1973 LBV (it was way overpriced and sitting in a hot shop in the sun drenched window so I didn't buy it). I've asked every producer I've come across and none have any 1973 red Ports left in their cellars.John M. wrote:Andy;

Nice! 1973 is a VERY difficult year to find. There were maybe 2 VPs made?Andy Velebil wrote:Super excited to have gotten a Port from my birthyear, 1973 Martinez VP. Many thanks to Tom for helping in this.

Not a Port, but perhaps a ringer for a 1997 tasting some day: Beaulieu Vineyard Port Napa Winemaker`s Collection, 1997
