Red Obsession

Post by Al B. »

I went to see the film Red Obsession this evening. It's a really interesting commentary on the Chinese demand for top Bordeaux and the subsequent loss of interest. Really good cinematography, great interviews with some of the leading Bordelaise, with various wine critics and with a good number of the Chinese multi-millionaires who have been driving the price up for these wines.

The film is on general release in the US and Australia and also available via iPlayer in the US. I recommend the film to anyone with an interest in wine.

I saw this several weeks back and rather enjoyed it. I went with friends who are wine drinkers but not wine geeks and they also enjoyed it. I think it has been pitched for general consumption and as a result, some in the wine industry have given it poor reviews, but most of the film critics have been really positive about it, at least in Australia.
