I'm assuming it is the same in the US, but in Australia the wine producers really aren't very good at using social media. There are a couple of exceptions to the rule but on the whole I think the industry hasn't worked out how to use social media. Contrast that to the beer producers and particularly craft beer producers who use it very well. On the whole I think this is due to it being a pretty young industry, and many brewers start up on a shoestring budget, so they are forced to be inventive to get the message out, while the wine producers tend to be older and have more traditional company structures where the people in charge don't understand social media therefore can't see the value in it.
