Most of my ports are drunk in a large group as I have a Port Group that meets regularly. Will drink by myself--nice but not as much fun--and a small group is fine, too. Overall, just prefer to drink with at least one other as its a communal experience thing and facilitates good conversation.

Alas, my wife does not like it (she did love the 67 Vargellas we had last summer so maybe its just she likes well aged, good+ bottles).

I drink Port whenever I feel like it. sometimes with friends, sometimes alone. Why? "Cause it's sterile and I like the taste" 8--) :lol:

I think that Madame Bollinger's famous quote on champagne is equally appropriate to port :
“I only drink champagne when I'm happy and when I'm sad.
Sometimes I drink it when I'm alone.
When I have company I consider it obligatory.
I trifle with it if I'm not in a hurry and drink it when I am, otherwise I never touch the stuff unless I am thirsty."
