Speaking of "born-on-dates"... 1963 Burmester Colh

I saw this at retail, but the bottling date was 2000. Any opinions on whether this is too old for a Colheita?

Are you asking if this wine was too old when bottled or bottled too long ago?

Regardless of your answer, I think it sounds fine depending on how the bottle has been stored for the last6 years.

My question was specifically if too much time has elapsed since it was bottled.

There are no signs of obvious abuse... I'll probably take a shot at one...

As long as it was stored well, go for it. It should be fine. Bottling date is important for certain ports, such as tawny's with an indication of age, which lose freshness as time goes on. For colheita's its not a problem as they can improve slightly in bottle.
