I think that the 1994 needs at least a day. 1990 and 1991... I would give them an hour or two.Eric Menchen wrote:Thinking about how long to decant Quinta do Vesuvio 1990, 1991, 1992, 1994, 1995, 1996 ... They will be opened soon.

1966 Fonseca last night ... such a stellar Port, I wish I had this in magnums.

Re: What have you opened this week?
1977 Graham's Vintage on Friday night. Spirity and smooth after 8 hours decanting. Initially quite sweet, but after decanting time it was leaning towards being flabby. Still quite dark and I'd be in no rush to consume. Not as good as 80-85. '77 is an odd vintage in general. If one read nothing on port, then the vintage makes sense, but with historical promotion of the vintage often times I am scratching my head on what the hype is about '77.

Ramos Pinto 30 Yr
Wonderful. Nice feel in the mouth, yummy finish keeping things going. Balanced in its yumminess.
1970 Fonseca VP
Fantastic. Opened yesterday for my mom's 70th birthday - my best VP to date by a large margin.

Warre Otima 20. Somehow a disappointment - not complex enough for a 20 yo.

For Christmas a 1980 Dow VP and at new year's Eve a 1997 Vesuvio VP, both showed verry well.
