This is a really tough question, especially with my limited experience. But it had me read my TN's from the last few years again. I seem to have had port from about 15 producers, LBV, VP, 10y old, 20y old, crusted and some colheita's and can pick three who I really seem to love above the other ones:
Graham (esp. VP)
Dow (esp. VP)
Ferreira (esp. for the 20 y old)
The fourth one would be either Niepoort, Fonseca or Q. de Vesuvio. Still not decided.

Funny thing is that Fonseca by far makes the largest part of my collection...

1. Fonseca
2. Taylors
3. Noval
4. Gould Campbell - although I was told by a representative of Symington that the intention is to discontinue this label soon and focus on lesser labels/brands. This was the answer I received to my question as to why has Symington not produced GC 2011 VP. I hope that this does not materialize. Have any of you heard anything similar?

Not sure what their plans are but hopefully a Sym can chime in here and clarify.

Interesting! I see that Graham and Fonseca and a few others dominate many lists. Too bad Fonseca is not very easily available here in Finland (or Sweden) and I have yet to taste their tawnies.

I would stick to:
- Dow's
- Kopke
- Offley

I hesitate to pick further houses due to just 1-2 bottles of experience yet, as I'm still discovering them. But I loved Calém and Burmester (20 yo's).

If I'm looking at buying newly released port over the last few years from only 4 producers, my list would be slightly different from before. In no particular order, it would be:

Quinta do Noval (regular blend and the Nacional blend if I could afford it and find someone who had some in stock!)
Quinta do Vesuvio (got to keep that vertical going)
Graham
Fonseca

It would probably be a different list if I was buying mature port. Quinta do Vesuvio would obviously not be on the list!

So interesting that not that many are naming Taylor as one of their picks!

Dont have a ton of experience, but given the QPRs I have found, would go with

- Fonseca
- Graham
- Ferreira (for the tawnies)
- Kopke (also for the tawnies)

For me, it's the lack of diversity in the Taylor's line up. With only four to chose from I was looking at producers to provide a mix of VP, Douro wines, wood aged, and other Ports. And those that drink well young and old. Something Taylor's is limited on IMO. Though I may change that in the future once I see what they do with the old Krohn's stocks. And in the past I've not generally been a fan of Taylor's when young due to the excessive "Vargellas heat" I get (though in all fairness the 2011 didn't have this near as much so I hope they are dialing that back).

The question was posed purely on port, not including dry wines, etc... My list would've been different if I took their whole portfolio under consideration.
