Older Ports-variability

Post by John Vachon »

Any views of variability in old VP(older than 1977) after opening-example good first-then lesser-then good at end?

You mean the particular vintage does not open up; just falls apart after 4 hours kind of thing?

Honestly, I have not experienced a port that "recovers" after it has fallen apart.

1970 Fonseca should be great at all phases, but no way should it be around for more than one sitting [cheers.gif]

David & Moses:

You both must be heroes-I can't drink a whole bottle of VP by myself in one nite.

agree.
How you taste can be affected by many things. I suspect your palate may have had a "bad day" and hence why it didn't seem to show so well on the 3rd day, then better again after.
