TN: 1903 D'Oliveiras Boal

From a batch of undated bottlings I just bought at Bonhams. When I drilled through the wax (which I need to not do from now on) the cork got pushed into the bottle. Managed to get it out though. Beautiful dark reddish color and soaring nose. Semi sweet. Very D'Oliverias style, big weighty mouthfeel but ample acidity. Not clear since it was just shipped. Will revisit tomorrow and add to notes, as this was a pop and pour from an older bottling.

Noticed something interesting for those who store their bottle lying down. There is a line of sediment running longitudinally at the top portion of the bottle which may indicate that these were stored on their side. The cork slid into the bottle very easily and showed signs of seepage. I have had other bottles of older undated bottlings of D'Oliverias where the sediment stain line indicates the bottle was stored standing up and had no issue with the corks.

Barry,
I think around $380 if I remember correctly. Some of the bottles had signs of seepage. Prob scared a lot of people off. Wine is in fine form though :D
