I added in two bottles for Sunday, because I think we will need to do 3 flights of four the way I see it and someone had to bring this to an even dozen bottles. :)

The 1970 Fonseca is usually a fun Port and since we have another Fonseca (1977) and two other 1970's, it will make it more fun to create cogent flights.

I am also going to add a 2nd bottle, not because it is great ... as it is just "good" but because few people have ever had it before, 1966 Quinta do Noval.

Front page updated and Sunday is now complete! :NotWorthy:

I can bring another bottle for Sunday as well if needed. How about another Ficklin to go with Bradley's bottle.

Unfortunately I was unable to find the 1994 Osborne, so that won't be at the tasting. That's a bummer because I also had a 1994 Gould Campbell that would have been good for this tasting. I am still bringing the other two wines I've committed to.

to stay "cogent" with the Sunday tasting theme that seems to be falling in place I can bring '77 Warre's instead of the '63.

Eric I. please only bring the one bottle and by that, I mean: not the Ficklin, although it would be appreciated. In this case, less is more. We'll have had two dozen Vintage Ports the day before. [kez_11.gif]

Edgar, please stick to the 1963 that was already committed to Glenn.

Last night I discussed the plan for next Sunday with our hosts and we have 12 great bottles and do not want to change from what was already committed to. Thanks to all of you, this should be a remarkable afternoon.

A remarkable afternoon, indeed! What a remarkable weekend!! I will be there Friday night, so are there any plans for a wine-a-thon then?
maybe drink some old Bordeaux :winepour: just as a tune-up for the port. If not, where should I eat in Issaquah? Is Jak's Steak any good? Thanks for any info provided.

JaK's is excellent and worth the wait. On a Friday night it pays to get there early to put your name in as they don't take reservations. I've seen the wait hit 2+ hours before, but if you're solo you might be able to eat at the bar. I can't remember if they allow that or not.

How many people need a ride to Lisa and Vic's on Sunday?

I've heard that Roy and Brad will have cars, and of course I have my truck which can seat 7 if necessary. The question is whether or not I need to put in the 3rd row which is something of a pain to do.

Are there any other people who will be driving besides Roy and Brad?

When are you guys planning to decant your ports for the Saturday event? How about on Sunday? I'm open to any recommendations.

Good question, Lindsay. I'm wondering, too, for the 63 Warre's.
I, too, will have a car for Sunday.

A Friday night get together sounds like fun to me. I will be staying at the Motel 6 around the corner on Friday and the Holiday Inn on Saturday. I have a room with two beds for each night. If anyone is desperate, I would be open to sharing. Let me know at donbaumhefner@gmail.com.

Ok I've finished making and printing all placemats for our glasses, tasting sheets for those that want them, and scoring sheets. :)

Sounds like I may not need to drive at all, or I can just bring David along with me in the smart car. ;)

Lisa and Vic live out in North Bend. It's maybe 20 minutes from the hotel.

Andy, do you have the flights figured out or is Roy doing that? We'll need to know that to tell people when to decant. Noon session will need to decant as early as possible on Saturday morning. Sunday decanting can probably all take place on Sunday morning.

Sorry, the Fair has me eyeball deep already.

Ok here goes:

I will be picking David/Andy up @ the airport.

Any locals who can get their Saturday/Sunday Ports to me ahead of time that would be great.

For those local, please decant your 1994's before going to bed on Friday night and immediately recork when you wake up Sat. a.m. For anyone else who has not shipped bottles to me already, please also decant if at all possible on Friday night and recork Sat.

Dinner would be good at Jak's, I am not as in love with that place as Glenn. On a Friday night, there can be REALLY LONG waits and they don't take reservations. My recommendation is to go early 6-7:30 to MAX'S WORLD CAFE and enjoy the amazing Goan food of Chef Edna, a good friend of mine. Tell her I sent you and she'll even let you bring in a bottle for a minimal corkage and maybe no corkage. Tiny place that seats a dozen people so early is better or call ahead: (425) 391-8002. Edna was the valedictorian of the Hyde Park Culinary Institute of America in 2006 and her food shows that she deserved that recognition! [notworthy.gif]

Everyone except Vic & Lisa, Glenn and David, please bring your SUNDAY bottles of Port to our tasting on Saturday. I will bring them back to my house and take care of them (decanting) for Sunday, which will lighten your load and keep things consistent. We may figure out a way to pick up the bottles at the hotel, so keep your eyes peeled here ... if that will be possible.

I will provide printed out directions to everyone for Lisa/Vic's place on Saturday for Sunday.

Roy is going to be driving Andy and all the bottles and lots of supplies on Sunday.
Glenn will have David.
Lindsay will likely be driving alone or maybe he can meet up with ... Eric Ifune or they can both talk to Bradley.
Bradley who has volunteered to drive ... maybe takes Eric, Don and Edgar and will be staying at the same hotel and see if Lindsay can fit the plan too. You guys can communicate here or on Sat. in person. It is up to you, please. I hope that works, as it will be easy in daylight and on the way home you can follow me back to the hotel, as it is not that easy when it is dark. No, I'm not kidding. You'll see. ;) North Bend, WA is off-the-beaten-path but beautiful. 20 mins. from the hotel on the way there. 15 back. ;p

Last detail: On Saturday, we will dine together at the hotel where our event is taking place. This will save us time, nobody will drive inebriated and we can all stay at one place. It should be very easy this way. I can not say exactly what time at this point, but have alerted the hotel ... which was renovated since we were there last.

Ok, I think I've covered all concerns? :scholar: [bye2.gif]

For now! I strongly advise that everyone over-communicates and uses this area to keep in touch with any late breaking developments.

This is going to be a killer weekend!

See you all soon. [friends.gif] [friends.gif] [friends.gif] [welcome.gif] :salute: :winebath: :winebath: :winebath:

I can pick up people's bottles for Saturday and Sunday at the hotel on Friday after work and take them to Roy's. That way he and Andy can deal with decanting them at the same time as all the others.

So... hotel people (Edgar, Don, Eric, Brad... anyone else?)... I'd meet you all for dinner but I'm already abandoning my wife for most of the weekend. I can pick your bottles up any time Friday evening after work. What time will work best for you?

Same as Don, I'm staying at Motel 6 Friday night and moving to Holi Inn Sat. (gotta save some $$ to pay for port) I can meet at the Inn Friday pm to hand off the 63 warre's.

Goan food sounds great to me! Actually, never had it before, but since I like just about everything, I'm going for it.
