What did you have, out of curiosity? I've had a Dogfish Head that was aged in such a way that was delicious.
J.W. Lees and I believe some of the first versions of Pizza Port/Lost Abbey Angel's Share. Today the production of Angel's Share is much greater and I think mostly Bourbon barrels are used.
For a side-by-side-by-side taste test tonight. Almost no sediment, which is to be expected because they're filtered. Despite being filtered I thought I'd give 'em 6 hours of decant time before tasting.

Happy birthday! Not sure how much of your birthday you'll remember after you've finished that line-up tonight though!
A bottle of Quinta do Bucheiro 1989 LBV, bottled in1993. Although sealed with a driven cork, there was so little sediment that I think must have been filtered. It was also well past it's prime, being not much more that a tired and light-weight tawny.
A bottle of Quinta do Noval 1965 Crusted Port, which was opened because Oscar Quevedo dropped by the Bung Hole in London for a quick glass of port before he picked up an award in London for one of Quevedo's wines being voted as one of Portugal's 50 best wines.
Cálem 20 yr tawny
V smooth and silky, thick. Long tasty finish. V sweet. Sadly, the early approach shows too much alcohol for my taste and the mid-palate is fairly unmemorable.
Got it as a Xmas gift, fear the buyer may have severely overpaid
