1982 Krohn Colheita - bottled 2011
Ferreira 20 Year Old Tawny
Both are delicious and very different from each other.

2003 Croft VP
Comparing to the 2000 Taylor VP from last week, the 2003 Croft seems much more mature. And where the T 00 was still remarkable as a berry bomb, the C 03 already has an elegance/balance to it that only age can bring.
Thinking I'll hold off on drinking my other bottle of C 03. Unlike the T 00, it doesnt feel like I'll have to wait 30-40 years for it to mature.

Up to that time, one of the best Crofts in recent memory

I opened a bottle of Romaniera 2011 and a bottle of Noval 1978 last week. I love the 2011 vintage - it has a balance and a fruitiness that I've not seen in young port since 1994. I also really like the Noval 1978. It's beautifully evolved and mature, but also very tasty and with a great length.

Didnt open them but had a glass of each at Club Macanudo in NYC yesterday
- 1994 Dow VP
Peppery in the mouth and tannins still showing, keeping things interesting. A bit like the 2003 Croft I opened at home this weekend. The bottle had only been open a few days and was nearly full.
- Fonseca 40 Yr
Full/velvety in the mouth. V tasty, long nutty finish.
Both were aprox the same price per glass and, at that being the case, the F 40Yr clearly won.

1975 Sandeman VP that I noticed had just started to have one small drip. No sense keeping it any longer as it was obviously asking to be opened

1994 Ramos Pinto VP
Decanted it yesterday afternoon, was a little brashy/peppery in the mouth keeping it from being a great experience.
The 1994 Cálem I had last week suffered from the same issue early on but a few days in was tasting pretty good... am hoping for the same outcome here.

2011 Barão de Vilar VP - from the recent WTSO deal.
Opened it yesterday, sitting in decanter. Enjoyed it though the tannins were a bit harsh... hoping that they mellow out w time in decanter.

Taylor 1980 - this port really has come round well compared to what it was like 5 years ago.

Another great sleeper from the 1980 vintage. I've had good results with Sandeman, Taylor, Dow, and Graham from this vintage.

Need to get myself more 1980s as it is my birth year. Weird that they tend to be pricey. Any sense why? Smaller production volume that year?
