2007 Pombal do Vesuvio Douro. Still nice but seems to have lost the vibe it once had.

I live in Portugal, so, apart from some old legacy French wine from when I lived in France, I only drink Portuguese wine.
This week...

Aldeias de Juromenha Colheita Tinto 2004 - excellent - almost like a light port.
São Lourenço Bairrada 2005 - I'm a big fan of Bairrada, especially Baga brews, but this wasn't very nice.
Fonseca Bin 27 - enjoyable after dinner.
Azamor Selected Vines 2004 - very smooth, fruity and delightful.
João Pato - Cabernet Sauvignon 1998 - bit of a "twang" and a long finish.
Zagalos Reserva 2009 - a deep, rich, round, wine.
Vale Barqueiros Garrafeira Limited Edition 2007 - very "winey" - just enough rough for my taste.

Now I've typed those, it seems like we're drinking a lot!

2006 Quinta da Alameda Reserva (Dao). Bought two for cheap over the holiday weekend; nothing special. Lacked tannin and/or acidity to take seriously. Pretty odd considering this is a Dao Reserva... One more to go.

2003 Rio Bom Touriga Franca. It is not every day you see a 100% TF wine and given the 11 years of age, this was absolutely stunning.

Also had the 2004 Rio Bom "Mario Braga" Grande Reserva - loved this too, slightly bretty but loads of complexity and life ahead.

I recently found a close out locally and they had the 2005 Quinta de la Rosa @ $19 per bottle and they had 2005 and 2007 left. I bought all of them as on release, I bought the 2005's (which I really love) @ 2x that price. So this was a screaming deal. Tonight along with some fine Burg, (white/red) and Douro White too ... and old Colheitas ... I will put the 2007 de la Rosa in decanter in about 90 minutes.

This week end I did open a Passadouro Reserva 2008, still young, dark color, oak is well integrated and it is showing lots of fruit and smoky flavours. Well balanced, a hint of heat, nice structure and great lenght.

I did open Pinot Noir 2006 from Niepoort at a Loire red wine tasting of Cab Franc and Pinot Noir. It was a clear winner!
