And I had a concern, sent an e-mail, and received a prompt reply.

Not staying in town, just on the way up to NorCal.And you're coming to town and didn't let me know. Dinner Friday at the college, we have room?

Me too. They have been a pleasure to deal with. Personalized service and quick response times that you see precious little of today.Eric Menchen wrote:And I had a concern, sent an e-mail, and received a prompt reply.

I was thiiiiiis close to picking up my order in Santa Monica today, when I realized I was sporting a 103 fever and I could hardly stand up, let alone drive down the 405 on a Friday afternoon.
Had to call and postpone my pick up which they were very very very accommodating to do. Ah well, I guess I would not have been able to open one up right away anyway?
I'm deliriously pumped about receiving the order. (The delirium is probably thanks to the fever, but I'm genuinely pumped!)
Thanks again, Roy!

I hope you feel better Mark! I think you made a wise decision. From what little I've seen of that highway on a Friday afternoon, I think I'd rather bike ride to Mexico.

That's not a fun ride if Camp Pendleton is closed to bikes. I had to detour and ride my bike miles down the shoulder of the I-5 freeway to get to San Diego one year. The shoulder wasn't so bad in itself. The big rigs blowing by at 65-ish MPH create one heck of a suction and trying to cross the off/onramps with cars going 70+ MPH and not expecting a bike to be there was the scariest thing I've done on a bike. I'll take my chances with the 405 in a car on a Friday afternoonRoy Hersh wrote:I hope you feel better Mark! I think you made a wise decision. Mine arrived yesterday! Woo hoo!
A note about the 100-yr old. This isn't a complaint, just an observation. The packaging isn't really designed to survive shipping in pristine condition. In my case, both inner boxes have minor chips on the edge of the top which, due to the wood staining, are very obvious. It's pretty clearly just a side effect of the design and of having been shipped/handled.
Now I just have to figure out how to store them... those cork boxes are REALLY LARGE. The shelf where I'd normally put something like that (next to my Kopke 375 box) is already full of ~2 cases of 2007 Romaneira and 1987 Sousa.
Ah well... first world problems.

I don't believe that counts as "storing"... more like "processing"...Eric Menchen wrote:I'll store them for you Glenn.

Yeah, the packaging on the 100 is over the top. I'm glad I watched the video to show how to serve it!

It really is awesome packaging. Of course Friday was the first time ever UPS got to my house before 5pm so I'm still without my boxes :-(. So close yet so far!

In time, people will look back at this, not just for the access or enormity of the savings ... but the fact that this launched the brand into the USA and began helping Miguel to penetrate this market for the first time, with any real commercial success. I am proud of that and happy that FTLOP was able to drive that process along with the support of our amazing community.

I just got my case last night and having only had the 30 yo before I'm super excited to try the 40 yo. Thanks Roy for putting this together and I'm glad to know that another great brand is making it to the states now. Looking at the fridge now, it's time to start working on room before the next op.

Re: March Madness: The next Port Buying Op - details.
My 2 cases arrived yesterday in perfect condition. Thanks Roy for putting this deal together.

Glad you were able to get your deliveries prior to Thanksgiving. I am sure that there will be a ton of S. Leonardo opened this Thanksgiving and I hope everyone will be putting their impressions (and ratings too) in the Tasting Note Data Base!

I just picked up mine from UPS a few minutes ago. The 100 YO bottles are beautifully packaged. All going into the cellar, now, EXCEPT one of the 40 YO bottles. That one gets opened tonight. I am downright giddy!
Thanks, Roy. What a spectacular buying opPORTunity.
