Will be quite interesting to see what happens if the countries who've traditionally bought boat loads of profitable basic Ports continue to cut back their buying of them.

I am going to give you soemthing to think about. Conversely to your comment above, WHAT IF ... it is the Port trade that has slowly but surely been delivering less of their inexpensive basic and "profit-less" Ports and BOBs to these markets, INTENTIONALY, so that they can focus their sales/marketing efforts on driving higher priced/greater margin Special Categories of Ports to markets where they are willing to pay more for those Ports? In my last post before this one, I mention exactly which markets I am talking about.

In order for the Port trade to exist 20 years from now, this is certainly one of the things that needs to happen. Not the only one, mind you. But this exact dynamic, is fundamental to the future of the success of the Port trade, and especially the new and smaller producers and SQVP's that have come along in recent decades and are unable to compete in the "volume Port game". But the large shippers as well.
