I can't believe that the Taylor 2000 has not been selected yet, so i will.

Derek, if that's the case, I'll share the Graham's 2000 I chose first with everyone, despite it being WAY too young.

Then, with the stealthy case of mineral water I had brought with me and then hidden, I would wait until everyone had died of dehydration (because alcohol dehydrates you, so nobody would be able to drink what they had brought to this scorching hot desert island) and then snaffle your case of 1994 Vesuvio!

I'd then use the empty Graham's 2000 bottle to send a message for help.

You may be interested to know that since I joined Roy and Mario on their Harvest Trip in Oct 06 my internal organs seem to have mutated into Port-based life-forms. I no longer drink water based liquids and can survive for many weeks on Vesuvio 1994 alone. Luckily, my friend Alex Bridgeman has about 7,000 bottles of this in his cellar and we have already hatched a plan to get it all to the desert island

Perhaps we can use your water to rinse the decanter

Having tried this port on several ocasions, the Taylor Vinha Velha 2000 is the cellarworthy port of a lifetime.

Time will tell.

Catching up slowly on the mass of messages I've missed since I last logged on, I cannot believe that I still have the opportunity to take with me to the desert island the Croft 2003. From 1997-2004, this would be the wine that I would choose. It is a truly stunning wine....

.... almost as good as the Vesuvio 1994 :twisted:

Have you not watched LOST ? - there's a whole underground complex with aircon and a mad cellar-keeper to watch over the bottles 8)

Picking up this older thread (as I'm reading a lot about the 1997 vintage at the moment): I would go for the 1997 Vesuvio VP. I had this twice and both of the times they showed extremely well, way too young, but delicious. Can't even say that I liked the 1994 Vesuvio VP (which I had only once) that much more.

Price being no object? 2003 Nacional.

Otherwise, 2003 Fonseca.

On an unlimited budget, probably the 2003 Nacional or as a second choice the 1997 Nacional.

On a limited budget I'd go for the 1997 Noval or the 2003 Noval.

Hard to go wrong with any of the 4, so it just depends on how much you want to spend. I really like the 2003 Noval and am very happy that I managed to pick up about a case and a half at $37/bottle a few years ago.
