Andy and Derek,
Its a shame we cant just walk down to a local, or someones back garden. I feel it would be quite amusing. You two would stick together over your Port expertise, but me and Derek would join forces on Nationality, and as the night progressed, me and Andy would start telling you, Derek, how you doesn't understand a real front line job (At least I think we're in the same proffession). All subjects and opinions would be mostly complete waffle...but a hell of an excuse to drink a few.

Alan,
What a fabulous evening that would be. Maybe one day it will happen.
However, I must contest the notion that you and Andy would have to spend time explaining the trauma of a front line job to me. I have been a Project Manager for the past 10 years and having people attack me for reasons not of my making is an hourly occurence. I do not have the luxury of sitting in a police (squad) car drinking coffee and eating donuts all day so don't know how my stress compares with yours and Andy's.
What I do know is that one day in the not too distant past Andy confessed on this website that he is the local Bobby on Mickey Mouse's street in Disneyland.

Alan,
It won't travel over the pond because it's funny
I think we need an FTLOP forum wide ban on wimpish complaining about being unwell. I have established a body of evidence over the past few years that the only reason people fall ill is that they do not have enough alcohol flowing through their brain. Coincidentally, I have not had a day off work for 15 years
