Not as much as some responses here, but the two highest prices I've paid were:

1963 Warre's, in 1998 at the restaurant in the Sydney Opera House. Think we paid A$300, which at the time was about US$180. Thought that was a fine bargain, particularly for a restaurant price.

My other higher end purchase was a bottle of 1937 Warre's Colheita for about $180, to open for my 50th Bday last year. Someone actually picked this up for me in Barcelona. Though a very nice wine, unfortunately it was an earlier bottling (1992), instead of the 2003 bottling I was looking for. If I find a bottle of that more recent wine, I'll definitely spring for it again :)

The most I have paid was ~US$350 for a colheita. I'm not sure what I would pay at most, depends on the wine......I loved the '63 Nacional but would I pay >$1000 for it? Maybe for a special occasion.

wow, there are some true bargains scored by our forumites. a 27 for $400? that ones a no brainer.

most i've paid is $380 for a magnum of 70 fonseca, and recently $335 for a magnum of 70 taylors. i've been toying for awhile about grabbing a magnum of 55 grahams, my birthyear, but with my kids tuition due, i haven't pulled the trigger yet. the cost is $800 for the mag. but that will probably be the most i'd spend
