I managed to get to the pre-auction tasting, and it was excellent; there were a number of unusual bottles that had been open since April 2014.
It gave me some insight into where to put in my highest bids (especially after talking with Edwin Voss).
His tasting notes from the catalog were spot on, based on the pours we were given of 15 different Madeiras.
Out of my biddings, I was successful on 3 lots:
#341- 1890 Terrantez -12 bottles
#345- Sercial Morgado Pavao - 10 bottles (Sercial Claro- 7 bottles; Sercial Obscura- 3 bottles)
#391- J.de Franca Netto, Sercial 1905 - 6 bottles

I also split lot #392 (1908 Manuel de Faria, Vinho Madeira Velho Meio Doce- 5 bottles) with some Madeirophiles I met at the tasting.

Cheap lots? No, I think those days are over.
I still think I got decent value and great Madeira in my winnings.

Also, recently won at auction, a case of 1950 Royal Sercial from Acker.

I'm sorry if I was directly competing with any fellow FTLOP members on these lots.
i guess we should all post our intended bids and coordinate to split lots at a lower bottle cost.
