Thanks Eric. I've also reached out to a contact. Obviously no one knew, until Fred's post that is, that Niepoort didn't even release this label. That doesn't mean Christie's shouldn't do the right thing and get it back, destroy it, and refund the purchase price to the buyer if said bottle is fake.

I know of someone in the UK who bought a suspect bottle of Madeira from Christies in Geneva. Christies contacted him when they determined an issue with the bottle, before he suspected a problem. He confirmed a problem and Christies in Geneva refunded his bid. That said, he is an important customer to them.
