Not a single bottle of wine since ... last Saturday. It happens.

Re: What have you opened this week?
Claus,
I had a bottle of table wine the night after returning home from Portugal. Last weekend was a March Magnum Madness party with each person bringing a mag along. I also brought a 750 of Port. Plenty of wine ... and I know you were kidding.
My daughter and I have both been suffering from food poisoning since Tuesday. I am hoping to be able to drink some wine this weekend. We'll have to see. Today I'm back on solid food and hoping it stays down.

Re: What have you opened this week?
1977 Ferreira Vintage Port along with Serra Estrela cheese and homemade Linguica from Fall River. A big endeavor for two people. Barely put a dent into the cheese.
The bottle was not as tawny as the last one, but was still on the tawny side. Cork was soaked all the way through and could've pushed in. The wax and foil was the only thing keeping this bottle alive. I thought it went well with the food though.

The linguica looks great...I pass through Fall River sometimes. Can you share your source?
Thanks,

Warre vertical in the port club last night:
63, 66, 70, 80, 85, 91, 94, 97, 00, 03, 07
Also a 2001 LBV and a romariz 91
A nice evening but not as memorable as other tastings we have had.
I don't know if I will put up notes because I think my palate was off.
I found most of the wines lacking in fruit and giving next to nothing away on the nose, maybe I just don't like the house style. don't know
The LBV was nice and the romariz was on the downhill

I know, but like I said in my OP, my palate may have been off.
Although many of the other people present, were also somewhat unimpressed.
It was not a disaster, I scored all of the VP from warre between 89-92, so definately good juice.
I hope I get a chance to revisit some of them in the future, they are not that expensive after all.

Re: What have you opened this week?
My friend picked it up, but there's two popular supermarkets that have Portuguese names; both will have it. They are not open on Sunday, FYI. Heck, even some mom and pop stores sell it too.John M. wrote:Moses;
