I was going to open a bottle of chilled Colheita tonight (it's still quite hot here in Los Angeles). However at 3am work had other ideas when got called in. 14 hours later I made it home and am having a well deserved very cold triple bock before an early bed call. Oh well hopefully later this week I can remedy the lack of Port issue I'm having.
me and one of my best friends planned to open a bottle our age for our 30th birthday so today is the day. (it's about halfway between our birthdays :p )
i just opened and decanted a 1985 Cockburn VP.
it's the first time i open an older VP myself.
the cork came out mostly in one piece. good smell. the color was lighter than i expected. looking forward to tasting it after our BBQ tonight!

Just don't use the 85' as marinade for the ribs by mistake I hope you enjoy it and post a TN afterwards.
haha no chance for that. we were the only 2 people there who drink any alcohol at all and we were looking forward to this bottle
i'm not sure about a TN. i don't have so much experience writing about taste. on sunday evening it had quite a strong alcohol taste and it was good but not great. we finished the bottle 2 days later and the taste was much nicer. softer but also more rich and with a longer aftertaste. very nice.
the color was a bit like a tawny. a brownish red. i expected it to be much darker but maybe the glass of the bottle (which was almost black and impossible to see trough) got me fooled.

You just wrote a nice tasting note. Go ahead and post it in the TN forum, we'd all appreciate it!
1992 Quinta do Passadouro VP.
Lovely, finished off over the course of 3 days. Best on days two and three, which would suggest a long decanting time will work (ps I decanted it at 3 PM and drank the first glass at about 10 PM).
Well I didn't actually open it myself. But I bought a glass of 2003 Krohn Colheita at this lovely little wine bar in Aarhus, which is owned by a sommelier.
Despite its young age this is a great port that I will definitely buy a few bottles of over the years so I can follow the development.
It is located in Klostergade in the city center and has around 300 wine items on the menu of which nearly 80 % is available by the glass. (Which is awesome when you want to try out new stuff)
I will be happy to take you there next time you visit Denmark.
You got me intrigued. Who is this Peter you are referring to? He lives in Aarhus and has a wine bar?

Interesting. I have not had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Skov yet, but I have seen him post on a Danish Port Facebook group where you yourself recently made a post Also I was unaware that he had a shop / wine bar in Aarhus which I do not know the location of.
Also I do not now the of the Vintage club, which could just me being somewhat green in this field.
