For The Love Of Port

I just grabbed the following:
Offley Boa Vista 1985 x2
Offley Boa Vista 1994 x2
Taylor 1997 x1

I've consistently enjoyed the Offley style at the '83, '85, and '94 FTOLP events so I thought it was time to buck up and buy a few.

Did you get those from Flickinger? I saw the sale email, but wasn't all that impressed with the selection they had available. (Or the prices... yet, tomorrow may be better.)

Had a 1970 Dow at a restaurant for $70. It was a little more on the Tawny than other times trying this vintage, but everyone at the table still enjoyed as they should.

Yes---the 1991s will be great for me or a couple people on good gatherings. A friend took a few and am now having remorse....

Find some 2010s if you want for a vertical, but for drinking pleasure those 2011s will do fine.

One of the advantages we (my family and I) have, is that we can go on holiday to Portugal by car (which we've been doing every other year since 2010 ). And every time, we visit the lovely Quevedo family at their winery in S. Joao da Pesqueira. This time (a couple of weeks ago) we were looked after excellently by Claudia.

The ports (next to some Douro wines from Quevedo and some other producers) that were purchased for ourselves this time were (we also took some ports for other family members along with us ):

Rozes 40+, the box says 'very old port'. I'm certain there is a back story I will have to hunt down.

Had this at restaurant Eleven in Lisboa. Outstanding flavor profile, especially for someone like me who drinks almost exclusively Colheita port.

Rozes 40+ year. They say on the box 'very old port'

Experienced this port at restaurant Eleven in Lisboa. While I had not been a fan of Rozes this port was incredibly good.

Sorry, but I know it set me back a couple of hundred euros but don't know the exact price since it was a gift from my wife.

So, since i moved to Portugal I have been relying on local wine shop expertise to help me learn about Port wine. Are there any
recommended resources where I can expand my knowledge of port other than 'drinking' as much port as possible .

I know I gravitate to vintage Colheita's at this point but want to understand the entire spectrum of port wine.

Sorry for the late reply, Glenn. Yes, I purchased the '94 and '85 Offley Boa Vistas during the Flickinger sale. The prices weren't phenomenal during the first day of the sale (sort of low/average on winesearcher) but I doubled down on the last day of the sale and grabbed 2 additional '85s at $50 ea. and 4 additional '94s at $35 ea. My port collection is pretty sparse post 1977 so these will help me to begin filling in the later decades.

Do you have experience with this Rozes port? If so what is your take? I also was gifted a bottle of 1888 Valado A.B.H (or F) not certain which apparently they don't sell but gift in small bottles and also Adelaide Tributa, neither of which I have had in the past. Any experience with these?
